AFROCHILD

 i've seen the darkness
 in a sunlight,
painted by bullets and
bloodshed in a war
game, with a joker on both
sides pulling the strings.

i've seen tears from a
child tainted with anger,
devouring the hurt internally
to satisfy the grieve his
little heart can yet comprehend.

i've seen the ghetto lit by hope,
as children study under the
candle light to one day
sketch the path of a new
tomorrow,

and be the Aces of a war game
they never chose to play,
as they lay down the last
card to ensure their voices
is heard internationally.

i've looked in the eyes of this child
only to find hope hidden within the
obstacles of a uncertain life.

that child was once a reflection
of who i was yesterday until i
woke up in this dream today.
